Citizens Guide: Air Quality Index
The Air Quality Index, or AQI, is a tool used for reporting daily air quality. This score offers a glimpse as to how much pollution is in the air and what health effects may be noticeable. As a general rule, a higher AQI value means higher air pollution levels.

To find out today's air quality index reading, simply click the AQI logo on the lower left-hand side of the page. You can also call the air quality hotline at 317/ 327-4AIR.
For more information about the AQI, including a more detailed chart, please visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's AirNow website. Information can be found for various audiences along the left side of the page. Plus, you can view the nation's air quality outlook on its home page.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also dedicates a section of its site to air quality. Please click here to explore those pages.
