About Knozone
For more than a decade, Knozone has educated central Indiana residents and businesses about the health effects associated with air pollution and has encouraged citizens to adopt voluntary clean air strategies. With the help of the 1.7 million people who call central Indiana home, our region's air quality has been improving -- and that's great news!
However, the federal government has made air pollution standards stricter in recent years. As a result, central Indiana does not meet federal health-based standards for ground-level ozone (smog) and, more recently, for fine particles (soot). That's why Knozone advocates that everyone make small changes in their behavior to help clean the air.
Clean air translates into better health and a better quality of life. For example, one of the best ways to help keep the air clean is to drive less and to walk, bike and use mass transit more often. Clean air also helps to spur economic development. Without it, federal law requires the imposition of strict pollution control regulations on a region making it difficult for business and industry to expand or even relocate.
